Recognized for his multi-disciplinary artistic abilities, ambition, and perseverance, Bruce Dale is a director and independent filmmaker who brings quality and integrity to the screen. Since the age of 13, he has been writing, directing, producing, shooting and editing his own short films, on his own and with long time friends.
Bruce strives to produce work that provokes thought, encourages dialogue between people, entertains, and builds a natural hybrid between the “grass-roots” values of filmmaking and the production quality of the cultural industry. His work focuses on topics that involve the human element; everything from the simple pause of smoking a cigarette, to the systemic roots of racism, to the imaginary world inhabited by a child.
In addition to Bruce Dale’s filmmaking pursuits, he is developing a professional career as a storyboard/concept artist. Dale continues to focus on building and maintaining positive working relationships when collaborating with various types of filmmakers, corporate cliental, and educational institutions.
Dale began to study fine art at a young age, and through his diverse formal training, developed his skills primarily in drawing and painting. He went on to study at the Ontario College of Art & Design, and earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Art degree in the film/video production and post-production program, Integrated Media. While majoring in that program, he continued to study drawing and painting, thus helping him to establish a well rounded set of artistic abilities.
As an artist, Dale understands the importance of the creative process, different methodologies, and solid communication through image and text. These qualities, combined with a diverse set of professional teaching experiences and formal training, have allowed Dale to consistently succeed in creating solid quality work.
